This Gurdwara is also known as Gurdwara Shri Nabha Sahib and is situated at a distance of 1.5 Km from Zirakpur On Chandigarh-Rajpura Road.
The Ninth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji won martyrdom in 1675 at Delhi. Guru Ji was beheaded on orders of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb for his refusal to convert to Islam. Aurangzeb issued orders of Death Sentence for anyone who picks up the body and head of Guru Ji for cremation. No one dared to pick up the Holy body and head of Guru Ji for cremation. It so happened that a severe storm swept through the City. By taking advantage of the storm, Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara, a Sikh devotee took Guru Ji's holy body to his house and cremated it by putting his house on fire. Bhai Jaita Ji who had gone to Delhi with Guru Ji , escaped from the prison of Aurangzeb and picked up Guru Ji's holy head and started his journey on foot towards Anandpur Sahib. When he reached near Zirakpur, it was a dense forest at that time with no habitation and also was a Muslim area. Bhai Jaita Ji saw a solitary Hut in the forest and reached there. The Hut belonged to Muslim Faqir Dargahi Shah, who was a follower of Guru Ji. Bhai Ji entered the hut and told the tragic story of martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Then Dargahi Shah made a place of mud and placed the holy head of Guru Ji on it. Pir Ji asked Bhai Jaita Ji to take rest and himself took care of the holy head for the whole Night. Next Day when Bhai Ji was about to start his journey again, Dargahi Shah asked Bhai Ji to convey his message to Tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji that he wants to have a glimpse of Guru Sahib, but can not travel to Anandpur Sahib due to his old age of 240 Years.
On reaching Kiratpur Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh Ji with Mata Gujri Ji (wife of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji) and Mata Nanaki Ji (Mother of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji) came from Anandpur Sahib to receive the holy head of his Father from Bhai Jaita Ji. Guru Gobind Singh Ji took Bhai Jaita Ji in his arms and blessed him by saying, 'Rangrete Guru Ke Bete'. Then Holy head of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was placed in a Palaquin and was brought to Anandpur Sahib, where it was cremated by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Bhai Jaita Ji conveyed the message of Muslim Faqir Dargahi Shah to Guru Ji and also told about the help given by him. Guru Ji said Jaita Ji to remind him whenever they cross near to that place.
When Guru Gobind Singh Ji was returning from Paonta Sahib in 1688 after winning the battle of Bhangani , Guru Ji visited Village Nada (where Gurdwara Nada Sahib is situated near Panchkula in Haryana State) and Village Dhakauli (where Gurdwara Baoli Sahib is situated near Zirakpur). At Village Dhakauli , Bhai Jaita Ji reminded Guru Ji about Muslim Faqir Dargahi Shah. Guru Ji tied his horse at some distance and reached the hut of Pir Ji bare footed alongwith Sikh followers. Guru Ji fulfilled the wish of Pir Ji by giving a glimpse of himself. Guru Ji asked him his wish. Pir Ji said that now I want liberation from cycle of birth and death. Guru Ji asked him to meditate for 40 Days and blessed him with liberation after that. Guru Ji stayed here for a Night and asked about the place where the holy head of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was kept. Guru Ji performed the Pujan (worshiped) at that Place.
Baba Banda Singh Bahadur also stayed at this place before attacking Sirhind. He wrote a warning letter to Wazir Khan, the Nawab of Sirhind, that the Khalsa Army is coming to take the revenge of his wrong-doings. He also issued Hukamnamas to the Sikhs to come in large numbers to attack Sirhind.
