Gurudwara Sri Charan Kanwal Sahib is situated in the Banga town of Nawanshahar district. Gurudwara Sahib is situated on left hand side on the main road while going towards Nawanshahar town. Sri Guru HarGobind Sahib ji after winning the last battle of Kartarpur defeating Painde Khan came here. At that time along with Guru Sahib was Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib ji, Baba Gurditta ji, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji (all were in their childhood) and Mata Nanaki ji. Guru Sahib ji stayed here for almost one month and his wounded horse suhela was also undergoing treatment here. On the name of Bhai Jina ji this place was named Jindowal. Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji got Gurudwara Sahib constructed here in the memory of Sri Guru HarGobind Sahib ji.
Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Came Here After Defeating Painde Khan. Guru Sahib Was Accompanied By Baba Har Rai Ji, Baba Gurditta Ji, Baba Tegbahadur Ji (All Were In Their Childhood) And Mata Nanaki Ji. Guru Sahib Ji Stayed Here For Almost One Month And Preached Gurmatt To Locals.
After defeating Painde Khan and winning the last battle of Kartarpur, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji came to Jindowal en-route to Kirtapur.
Guru Hargobind came here with his family including Baba Gurditta, the future Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji, the future Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Mata Nanaki Ji. They had arrived from Gurdwara Sri Gurplaha Sahib Sotran which is located only a few kilometers away.
Guru Hargobind stayed here for almost one month and his wounded horse Suhela was also undergoing treatment here.
A Sikh by the name Bhai Jina Ji had buffalos which were not producing milk. After Guru Ji arrived the buffalos started giving milk. In memory Bhai Jina's sewa, this area was named Jindowal.
In the memory of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, Maharaja Ranjit Singh had a Gurdwara constructed here.
The Gurdwara owns approx. 35 acres of land.
