Guru Har Gobind Ji came here after winning the battle of Mehraj while on his way to Chak Bhai ke. It is believed that when Guru Ji came to the Village nobody came to see him. As a result from here Guru Ji proceeded to Village Takhatupura. However when a Villager by the name Karahamal came to know of this fact, he met Guru Ji outside the Village and requested him to come to his house and have meal. Guru Ji accepted his invitation and graced his place with his presence. Before leaving for the next destination Guru Ji blessed him with the boon-that his Karahe(pans) will remain always full. Guru Ji also said that people of this Village would not reach an agreement at the first instance, but with the congregation would be unanimous next time after deliberations. Besides daily routine prayers in the Gurdwara Sahib, all major Gurpurabs are organized. People from surrounding Villages also join and celebrate functions with enthusiasm.
Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji arrived in Mehal Kalan from village Littran.
At the time the surrounding area was covered with dense bushes and trees. The villagers did not welcome Guru Hargobind.
After resting for a while Guru Hargobind made preparations to leave. A villager named Karaha Mal had heard that Guru Hargobind was nearby and so he went to serve Guru Hargobind and provide food and water.
Guru Hargobind was pleased with the service of Karaha Mal and said that Karaha's pots (karahe) would always remain full ie. he would prosper.
Guru Hargobind explained that the first prayer at this place would go unanswered and that subsquent prayers would be heard. The villagers found this to be true.
Bhai Hari Singh and Baba Kaul Das of Mehal Kalan left their lands to the Gurdwara.
