Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji came to Village Handiya in the year 1665 A.D and rested under a grove near a pond. A person came and told GuruJi about a mysterious disease rampant in that area. Guru Ji advised him to have the patient bathed in the pond. He told Guru Ji that the Tanners (ChAmars) used to dip their hides in that pond. Guru Ji asked them to ignore. The Villager were hesitated and said that the water of the pond was foul. Guru Ji then himself bathed in the pond. Thereafter Villagers brought a patient and bathed him in that pond .The patient felt relieved and cured. Later all the sick Villagers took bath in the pond and got cured. The Villagers served GuruJi gratefully with Devotion during Guru Ji's stay over there .Now a Sarovar has been built at the place of pond. Large gathering takes place on Shahidi Divas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. In addition Shahidi Divas, Amavasya celebration of every month and an annual religious fair is held during the month of January/ February.
Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji arrived in village Handiaya and rested under a grove of trees near a pond. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji held a diwan and performed kirtan for the local Sangat. At that time there was a mysterious disease that was affecting the villagers in the area. Guru Tegh Bahadur advised the villagers to bathe in the nearby pond. One of the villagers said that the Chamars (low caste Tanners) used to dip their leather hides in the pond and hesitated to take Guru Tegh Bahadur's advice. Guru Tegh Bahadur asked the villagers to ignore their prejudice and bathed in the pond himself. The villagers brought an affected villager and made him to bathe in that pond. The patient felt relieved and was cured. Later all of the sick villagers took a bath in the pond and were cured. The villagers served Guru Tegh Bahadur with great respect and devotion. A sarovar has now been built at the site of the pond.Accommodation: There are 4-5 rooms with limited facilities in the Gurdwara premises for pilgrims to stay.
