Gurdwara Tisari and Satvin Patshahi - This Gurdwara, common to the memory of Guru Amar Das and Guru Har Rai, is located near Lal Bahadur Shastri Market on the fringe of Thanesar proper. Guru Amar Das preached about the inefficacy of visiting holy places and bathing in holy water for purification of the soul. The only tirath to have a dip in, he said, was nam (the Holy Word).
This Gurudwara in Kurukshetra is dedicated to three Sikh gurus, Guru Amar Das ji, Guru Har Rai ji, and Guru Har Krishan ji.
Shri Guru Amar Das ji: When Guru ji came here in 1523 along with his family at the time of solar eclipse, there was a tax imposed since rule of Babar on Hindu pilgrims. Guruji denied paying this tax and instead, he stayed outside city. Hearing this, Akbar waived the tax imposed on Guru ji and his followers. They took the holy dip for the first time without paying any tax.
Guru Har Rai ji visited this place in 1656 on the dark night of Amavas and he expounded Sikh Sangat here.
Guru Har Krishan ji visited this place while coming from Kiratpur Sahib. He halted here to pay obeisance to the place of his father and he stayed at the house of Tarkhan where Guru Amar Das ji and Guru Har Rai ji also stayed during their visit to Kurukshetra. Guru Har Krishan ji organized a langar at this place in which the whole of Sikh Sangat had the meal together.
